get your kicks...

This summer I am chucking my taylors for the crisp, Italian brand, SUPERGA. As seen on the likes of MK and Ashley and Sienna Miller to name a few, these kicks are essential to every summer wardrobe. I simply adore a canvas sneaker with vintage cutoffs and dresses or to dial back a fussy chiffon. Sneak off and get yourself a pair or two or three or...LOVE!

leavin, on a jet plane...

Excuse me loves as I shake the the dust off my dinosaur of a laptop. It's taken me way too long to unpack and begin writing again, but alas I am back and ready for vacation. As most of you jet set or sail your way into complete paradise, it's most important to pack the essentials...because the last thing one wants to do on vacation is think, right?! Black out on vacation. Not because of too many poolside, peach bellini's, but with the perfect swimwear and maxi. Nothing screams bathing beauty more than a classicly flattering black bathing suit...I prefer a bandeau with jewels and a turban, but we'll get to the accessories in a bit. A floor grazing black maxi dress with gold or tribal statement jewels is effortless and polished for dinner by the sea. One should never peddle their cruiser without an amazing topper. I prefer a straw panama with a black band or (huge) floppy brim hat. Embrace the Margherita...missoni that is, with a turban....totally obsessed, with an oversized round shaped pair of sunnies, your fave heirloom locket, tiny gold bangles and straw market bag. Let us not forget a caftan cover-up and nude flippers for a stop in for ice cream before stepping into the sand or paruzing per-spi-casity (everyone deserves a mid-day treat on vaca).  Reveal the spf 15 glow you've worked on all day with a white slip dress, vintage wood jewels and a cognac gladiator. Ready. Jet. Go!

In Mint Condition...

Mint Condition, the most beautiful words a vintage maven can hear or read. In this instance, I am having a mint moment for the lovely pastel as whimsically displayed on the carousel of Louis Vuitton, and sashaying down the catwalks and cat-eye glasses of Rochas and Elie Saab. It is the "new" white canvas for jewels gallore! Mix the gummy flavor with white for a crisp and modern effect. Pick a mint silk tunic and pair with white or tobacco city sandals for a laid back feel while running errands without looking all zipped up like a 50's housewife. Skim the floor with an etherial maxi in the lady like hue...don't forget your pearls girls! In this case, vintage, white chunky beads, chain, celluloid, and stacking bangles are the bold statements of choice. Execute the colorway with white by pairing your fave silk blouse with a mint cluster or pendant necklace for a boho-eque vibe. Nothing makes a girl want to spring forward more than a freshly, starched pair of white skinnies. Pair them with a mint blouse or sweater for the perfect Marc Jacobs, just left the club effect...tennis club my loves! Find the perfect tint of mint and one will flawlessly accomplish a trend fave of spring 2012.

For my love of a hint of mint, L.

Fashion Week....Eeek!

Front row at the show....what shall I wear? As long as it's vintage I really don't care!

Woo Me...

Pink and ink...the color combo for which I am currently trending. As seen from the workings of Jason Wu, Celine, and the magicians of YSL. This is such a fresh pallete compared to it's french poodle pink, black and white evil stepsister from the 50's. Jackie O's famous strawberry pink and navy trimmed Chanel suit was described as, "one of the iconic items of fashion of the 1960s" (Brawley). For the menswear inspired like myself, girlish pink is too soft, but mixed with a dark navy structured something, a strong brass or pewter statement jewel, and a fierce black bootie, the result is rocker feminity at its finest. How do you wear this trend without looking like cotton candy? Subtly ad it into your wardrobe with an amazing dark ink or white blazer (a staple in every closet) and pairing with an electic pink blouse or cami worn with inky denim or a crisp white pant. Step outside the box with a pink turbin wrap and a structured white boxy tunic, leather skinnies and a super chunky chanel-like chain necklace. Coco might not have worn pink, but mix a blazer in the trendy hue with her fisherman stripes and a flowy white pant to channel her iconic tee. Think pink with your jewels. Woo them all in a flourishing Jason Wu inspired navy, black and white floral frock by adding a pink multi strand or ear bauble...as big as your lobe I might ad! Pink doesn't stink when mixed with ink.

For my love of punky pink, L.

Here are a few of my fave must haves to execute the trend:

Tour Des Piazza...

Piazza Sempione that is! Their 60's revival spin on spring florals and the oh so now crisp, white palette is petal perfection. Incorporate this look into your wardrobe by adding a watercolor, floral dress or blouse to white jeans, a black leather motorcycle jacket and nude booties. Don a vintage 60's polyester floral frock to layer with black tights and booties and wear it bare with nude pumps for spring/summer! Too afraid to wear floral? Wrap the citrus and black combo to your neck, wrist, ears...you get the idea...with a fabulous jewel or two or ten from...Maes (of course)! Lean toward piazza this spring...you will bloom.

For my love of a fresh, spring floral, L.
